Baccarat Rules and Method

Baccarat Banque Policies

Baccarat chemin de fer is played with eight decks of cards in a dealing shoe. Cards under 10 are valued at their printed value and with Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and A is 1. Bets are placed on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or on a tie (these aren’t really people; they just represent the two hands that are dealt).

Two cards are given to both the ‘house’ and ‘gambler’. The total for each hand is the total of the cards, but the 1st number is ignored. For example, a hand of 5 and six has a score of 1 (5 plus 6 = 11; dump the initial ‘one’).

A third card might be given out using the following rules:

- If the gambler or house achieves a score of eight or 9, the two players stay.

- If the player has five or less, he takes a card. Players otherwise hold.

- If the gambler holds, the bank hits on a value lower than 5. If the gambler takes a card, a chart is used to see if the bank stands or takes a card.

Baccarat Banque Odds

The bigger of the two scores wins. Winning bets on the house payout 19 to 20 (even payout less a 5% commission. The Rake is tracked and cleared out once you depart the table so make sure you have cash remaining just before you quit). Winning wagers on the gambler pays one to one. Winning bets for a tie typically pay 8 to 1 but occasionally nine to one. (This is a awful wager as a tie occurs less than 1 in every 10 hands. Be cautious of gambling on a tie. However odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 versus eight to one)

Bet on correctly baccarat chemin de fer provides generally decent odds, aside from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games baccarat banque has a few accepted myths. One of which is close to a misconception in roulette. The past isn’t a harbinger of events yet to happen. Keeping score of past results on a page of paper is a waste of paper and an insult to the tree that was cut down for our paper needs.

The most familiar and definitely the most successful scheme is the 1-3-2-6 tactic. This plan is used to maximize earnings and limit losses.

Start by placing one chip. If you succeed, add one more to the two on the table for a sum of 3 units on the second bet. If you succeed you will now have 6 on the table, take away four so you are left with two on the 3rd bet. Should you succeed on the 3rd round, put down 2 to the 4 on the table for a total of 6 on the fourth bet.

If you don’t win on the first round, you take a loss of one. A profit on the first round followed by a loss on the 2nd creates a hit of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a hit on the third gives you with a gain of 2. And wins on the initial three with a loss on the fourth means you break even. Winning all four rounds leaves you with 12, a gain of 10. This means you will be able to not win on the 2nd round five instances for every favorable run of 4 rounds and in the end, are even.
