Baccarat is played with eight decks in a shoe. Cards under 10 are counted at their printed value and with Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and A is 1. Wagers are made on the ‘banker’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not really people; they just represent the two hands that are dealt).
Two hands of two cards are then dealt to the ‘banker’ and ‘player’. The score for each hand is the sum total of the cards, although the 1st digit is ignored. For example, a hand of five and six has a value of 1 (5 plus 6 equals 11; drop the 1st ‘one’).
