Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards in a shoe. Cards valued less than 10 are valued at their printed value while 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each given a value of 1. Bets are placed on the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they simply symbolize the two hands to be dealt).

2 hands of two cards are then given to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for every hand will be the grand total of the two cards, but the first digit is removed. For eg, a hand of 7 and 5 gives a total score of 2 (7plus5=12; drop the ‘1′).

A 3rd card can be dealt depending on the foll. codes:

- If the bettor or banker has a total score of 8 or nine, then both bettors stand.

- If the player has five or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If player stands, the banker hits of 5 or less. If the bettor hits, a chart shall be used to decide if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the 2 scores wins. Victorious stakes on the banker payout 19 to 20 (even odds minus a 5% commission. Commission is tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so make sure that you have dollars left over before you leave). Winning bets on the player pay 1 to 1. Winning bets for tie typically pays out at eight to 1 but sometimes 9 to 1. (This is a terrible gamble as ties will happen less than 1 every ten hands. Run away from putting money on a tie. Nonetheless odds are radically better – 9 to 1 versus eight to 1)

When done smartly, baccarat presents generally good odds, away from the tie bet obviously.

Baccarat Strategy

As with all games, Baccarat has some well-known myths. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is surely not an indicator of future actions. Staying abreast of historic results on a chart is simply a waste of paper … an insult to the tree that gave its life to be used as our stationary.

The most common and possibly most successful technique is the one-3-two-6 concept. This tactic is deployed to amplify payouts and limiting risk.

Begin by wagering one unit. If you win, add one more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have 6 on the table, remove four so you have 2 on the 3rd wager. If you win the 3rd bet, add 2 to the four on the table for a grand total of 6 on the 4th gamble.

If you lose on the 1st wager, you suck up a loss of one. A win on the first bet followed up by loss on the 2nd creates a loss of 2. Wins on the 1st 2 with a loss on the 3rd gives you a profit of two. And wins on the first three with a loss on the fourth mean you break even. Coming out on top on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you can lose the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
