Baccarat Rules

Baccarat is played with eight decks of cards. Cards with less than a value of 10 are valued at face value and on the other hand 10, J, Q, K are 0, and A are each equal to 1. Wagers are placed upon the ‘banker,’ the ‘player’ or for a tie (these aren’t actual gamblers; they merely symbolize the 2 hands to be given out).

Two hands of two cards will now be played to the ‘banker’ … ‘player’. The value for every hand is the grand total of the 2 cards, but the 1st digit is dropped. For eg, a hand of 7 and five has a tally of 2 (sevenplus5=12; drop the ‘1′).

A third card may be given out depending on the following rules:

- If the bettor or banker has a total score of eight or nine, each bettors stand.

- If the gambler has five or less, he/she hits. Players stand otherwise.

- If bettor stands, the banker hits of five or lower. If the gambler hits, a chart will be used to decide if the banker stands or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The larger of the 2 scores wins. Successful stakes on the banker pay at 19 to twenty (even odds less a 5% commission. Commission is kept track of and moved out when you leave the table so make sure you have cash left before you leave). Bets on the player that end up winning pay one to 1. Winning bets for tie usually pays eight to one and occasionally 9 to one. (This is not a good bet as ties happen less than one every ten hands. Stay away from wagering on a tie. Even so odds are somewhat better – 9 to 1 vs. eight to 1)

When done accurately, baccarat presents pretty decent odds, away from the tie wager ofcourse.

Baccarat Tactics

As with most games, Baccarat has some well-known misconceptions. One of which is very similar to a roulette myth. The past is not a predictor of future happenings. Tracking of previous outcomes on a chart is simply a waste of paper … a slap in the face for the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and feasibly most successful tactic is the 1-3-two-6 method. This process is used to build up wins and minimizing risk.

start by wagering one unit. If you win, add 1 more to the two on the table for a total of 3 on the second bet. If you win you will have six on the table, subtract 4 so you have two on the 3rd bet. If you win the 3rd bet, add two to the four on the table for a sum total of six on the 4th bet.

If you don’t win on the 1st bet, you take a loss of one. A win on the 1st bet followed by loss on the 2nd brings about a loss of two. Wins on the 1st two with a loss on the third gives you a profit of 2. And wins on the first three with a loss on the 4th mean you break even. Arriving at a win on all four bets leaves you with twelve, a profit of ten. This means that you can fail to win the 2nd bet 5 times for every successful streak of 4 bets and still break even.
